Haters

This post is only geared towards a small handful of individuals so please don't think this directed at any one person...

Let me start off by saying; yes, I do put myself out there. I expose personal aspects of my life, children, and our adoption journey via social media. That is MY choice. So I am 100% fine and accepting to the fact that not everyone is going to like or agree with everything that I have to say.

I get it.

However; in the past week I have received an excess of comments/messages that are not geared towards me....( these particular ones are via twitter and youtube and are comments that were never approved by me for public viewing)

You may say, "well you asked for it" or " what do you expect by putting your life out there?"....now, I can brush off almost any negative comment when it is geared towards myself. However, these particular comments were geared towards my precious boys...

( I will show you more respect that you have shown them and I won't use your names)

" Hi Katherine; I just had to say that I admire what you are doing but I also am certain that you will fall flat on your face. Your oldest son has some serious "appearance" issues and I think he will struggle later in life. Lets face it; he is UGLY."

" Why would you adopt that blind kid? Dont they have normal kids over seas that you can go fetch?"

" I say you leave those kids right where they are; after all that their country has done to others they deserve to suffer."

" I hope your children pass away before you get to them; it would put you both out of your misery."

You may be wondering why I would even mention these comments if I never approved them....if they were never seen by anyone but me....

Because I want people to see the TRUE, unfiltered, ignorance that consumes some people. Now, I could say a lot of things back in anger and pure frustration....but I know how my God in heaven would want me to respond. I know that no matter how hard Satan hits...the word of God will ALWAYS speak volumes over his attempts to torment.

Sure, the comments hurt.

They leave me emotionally battered and bruised....

They leave me wondering about what kind of horrific world we live in where my children are neglected and abused and STILL there are people who live in our country...

a country FULL of opportunity and freedom....who could be so ignorant, self righteous, and belittling

But at the end of the day I know I have (we ALL have) something greater...

we have the TRUTH...

We have the word of God.

James 1:27  Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world

Faultless and pure....

I am redeemed and forgiven by the grace of Christ...

Eph. 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

So while blogging, vlogging and tweeting may stir up people who choose to use hateful words to express their feelings....it also inspires, encourages, and up lifts people. And THOSE people are the reasons I choose to "put my life out there" because for every hateful comment I have a thousand more that are written in genuine love and support.

Adoption IS a sacrifice....

but it's a joyful sacrifice...

And at the end of the day I will NOT waver in spreading His good news...

And THESE boys....

are the BEST news....

  2. I haven't been reading blogs in a loooongg time... I really can't believe the comments. The first thought that comes to mind is of demons being banished to a herd of pigs by Christ... It is definitely tough to see those comments about your sweet children but they really don't deserve a response. I haven't been around much to hear/see much about Gideon- I still have a special place in my heart for Aiden. I have let him go (from my anxious thoughts and prayers about his welfare) with peace in my heart, so happy that he has a family. Some people have so much hurt and anger in them that they can't look past it to see the true beauty radiating from both of your boys. Our society is supposedly made to believe that they are more tolerant and open-minded but the truth is that unless they have been touched by the love of Christ they are blind in the worst sense. Aiden will see love through you and through His heavenly Father. Leads me also to wonder again what Noah must have been thinking as they were mocking him as he built the ark. Keep going Killen family!!!! Lots of love from Canada!!!

  3. I just stopped by your blog after donating to your boys on RR...I am SHOCKED that anyone would say anything about a child!

Your boys are beautiful and everything will work out. Best of luck and I will be thinking of all of you.

  4. Just found you via RR on FB- be angry, but sin not- (I'm repeating this to myself right now) I will gently write, that the people who wrote that are, well disgusting, repraved come to mind. And, that's all I'll say about that.... Ehem.

You, on the other hand- what higher, more noble thing could one do. You are walking on holy ground. The world will judge- let them, don't give it another thought. Praying and thinking of you and your family~ jen
